Roots:

The work explores dynamics of interdependence, focusing on those invisible structures that make growth and continuity possible. Each element plays a role in holding the whole together, as it happens in living systems.

Although it stems from a material and conceptual investigation, the piece also emerges from a more intuitive place. It brings back a concern that keeps appearing in my work: connections, entanglements, the roots that bind us together.

Here, roots are not just an image but a way of thinking. Their apparent fragility is also what gives them strength, because they only function in relation to others. Working with thread becomes a repetitive, almost meditative gesture, but also a way of connecting — with myself and with what surrounds me. Each strand depends on the others; none can hold on its own for long.

The piece moves between textile and sculpture, and can be understood both as an autonomous object and in relation to the body or the space. Within its contained scale, it gathers a complex system that invites a slower way of looking, paying attention to what usually goes unnoticed.

Through a reflection on textiles and their historical link to the feminine, the work turns to what has often been considered merely decorative, highlighting its capacity to hold, connect and sustain. At a time when many structures seem to tighten or come undone, thread appears as a way of thinking about the collective, and of imagining other ways of supporting one another.
