Different Layers, One Ornamen

 

In this piece I work through the accumulation and layering of materials. Brass, acrylic paint,
embroidery findings and stitching come together to build an object where colour and
matter coexist in harmony.
Colour acts as a first gesture of attraction. Intense, saturated tones draw the eye and evoke
something almost playful. Yet, as the viewer gets closer, a layering of elements appears,
assembling and holding each other in place.
Within this composition, embroidery functions as a point of connection. It is not only
decorative but a way of linking different materials and keeping them together within the
piece.
With this brooch I am interested in expanding the traditional idea of ornament and pushing
it toward a more complex object, where different materials and techniques coexist. A small
assembly meant to be worn, where layers, materials and gestures build up to form a
singular object.
